Jihva Tane Rasa Prati

Jihva Tane Rasa Prati, Lord Krishna, Hare Krishna mantra

Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur has written a song ”Jihva Tane Rasa Prati” stating to control our senses and to constantly think of Lord Krishna. We are slaves of our senses. Our senses can always deviate us from spiritual progress. Hence control the senses by engaging one selves in Krsna’s pastimes.

(1)
jihva tane rasa prati upastha kadarthe
udara bhojane tane visama anarthe

(2)
carmma tane sayadite, sravana kathaya
ghrana tane surabhite caksu drsye yaya

(3)
karmendriya karme sane
bahu-patni yatha grha-pati
akarsaya mora mana tatha

(4)
e mata avastha mora sri-nandanandana
ki rupe tomara lila kariba smarana

1) Dragged by tongue towards a taste, by genital to perversion; needlessly the belly craves lavish food consumption.

2) The skin demands luxurious comforts, the ear demands sweet talks; the nose demands sweet fragrance, as the eye for scenery looks.

3) Like a man with many wives, splayed by their demands – thus the mind is dragged by the senses' commands.

4) O dear son of Nanda, this is my situation; how will Your sweet pastimes be my heart's contemplation?"
